It's been a while since I've posted. We've been pretty busy. This weekend my brother picked us up and took us to my nephew, Christian's, soccer game in Pueblo. It was great to get to see all the kids and Mangnay, and Mike, too I guess. I don't actually watch a lot of soccer and it's a little difficult to follow when you don't know all the rules. But it's still exciting as all get out to see my nephew score two goals. Only one counted because the first one was taken back on what I'm certain was a bogus technicality, so as far as I'm concerned he scored twice. The official score ended up being 3-0 in our favor. WAY TO GO CHRISTIAN!!! Poor thing, I don't think he's used to having someone as loud and obnoxius at his games as I am.
On Sunday Mason and I worked at the phone banks calling on our neighbors to help keep Obama out of the White House. I was a little worried about how Mason would handle those that do not share our opinion of the best nominee, but he loved it. Between the two of us we went through 6 call sheets and Mason went through 3 sloppie joe's and 2 Dr Peppers. He really liked the sloppie joes, they were made out of deer and elk meat! To each his own.
Tonight Steve and I went to the Road To Victory Rally where Gov. Sarah Palin and Hank Williams, Jr spoke and sang. A good time was had by all. I will not go off on a political tirade right now, just PPPLLLEEEAAASSSSEE vote McCain!!!!!!!!

So Now I've Heard It All
I had a meeting the other day with Chloe's teacher. As it turns out, my daughter is SHY!!! She looks down when she is speaking or being spoken to. Hides behind her hair. And when she was too late to walk in with the class (line up) and had to walk in by herself, she just didn't go in. Chloe stood in the hall until another teacher saw her and took her into the classroom. She wouldn't ask for help so if she didn't know how to do something she would just sit there and do nothing until everyone else completed their work. Is this the same Chloe that you know? Now at lunchtime or at recess she's fine and she talks to and plays with the other kids, but in the actual classroom she is extremely shy and quiet !?! I find it odd, but she is doing well as far as her grades are concerned so I don't want to make a big deal out of it. I figure she'll get more comfortable as the year goes on and then I'll be having conferences of another kind.
Not a lot going on with the boys right now. Tate is out of b.b.'s for his gun and has found out that it will shoot spitwads and twigs. And they swapped chores which they both seem to be happy with.
Did you know that if you google 'smart dogs', that poodles are #2? I think that mine may be defective.

Steve Is A Quitter!
Today makes 5 days of no smoking for Steve. Pretty great, huh? Now we are both non-smokers. I am quite pleased. I'm still not exercising or eating healthy yet. I don't want to take my ability to snack away just yet. Since I'm not smoking, I'm eating out of sight (as mom would say :)
So today was interesting. We have had some very nice weather up until this weekend. It has gotten cold. Well, when I went school clothes shopping for Chloe, I got some VERY good deals. You see, instead of buying the new back to school cold weather clothes, I purchased the mega percent off summer stuff. My thinking was that when it got cooler, I could just get her some warm stuff then. The problem is that the weather didn't like taper off. It was nice and then the next day it was cold. There wasn't really a cool down period. Not that I didn't know that it is October, I just wasn't in a rush. Well, I was off work today so I ran down to the Goodwill to try to get some jeans for her. I haven't been there before today and on my way I passed the Springs CCU. That's the school my brother works for. I didn't have much luck finding any jeans in her size. I did however get a brand new pair of gymboree corduroy pants and 2 long sleeved shirts so it wasn't a total loss. Next we went to Macy's because we had a gift card from there and a guy called and said we could dig up some small aspen trees from his yard. I wanted them for my brother. So then, not even 5 minutes later, my brother called. He was coming here to do some work and wanted to have lunch. What luck! So we met up at On The Border. Mike says the wait staff touches the chips with their hands, but I still ate them. The chimi was good, I got to see my bro-bro and he picked up the tab. All in all a very good day. Okay, so now it doesn't seem very interesting, but it sure was to me at the time.
Oh and by the way, I have another kidney stone.

So I was educated today
My brother called me today to let me know that once you start a blog, you have to keep writing new posts on it. I told you I was new at this. OOOOOHHH......you write new posts on it every now and then......reealllly........some people write daily. Okay, now I get it. I'm not sure if I have an interesting enough life to maintain a blog, but I'll give it my best shot.
Chloe is toothless. Her two front teeth - GONE. The teeth on either side of her two bottom center teeth - GONE. We are temporarily not buying any apples for the kids to eat.
Tate is at his first school dance. I'll have to let you know how it went because he is literally at the dance right now. It's from 2:30-4:00 which I think is extremely odd. Swimming is over now, but I'm proud of Tate for trying something new and he did very well in it.
Mason has been doing a lot of 'hanging out with friends'. Unfortunately for him, I put a limit on it cause it was getting out of control. He's being pretty pouty about not having his driver's license yet. Doesn't seem like it's that big a deal to me, but I'm not a dude so I guess I don't understand. "All his friends already have theirs!" So I'm certain he has a right to be upset.
Today is the one week anniversary of my quitting smoking. This calls for CAKE! Still no exercise or healthy eating yet, obviously :) Oh, but I must be on my way to healthy eating because last night I had popcorn for a snack!
Steve is still exercising and now there is talk of buying a scale. I really don't want one, because before Chloe broke our other one I became a little obsessive about it. I much prefer to live happily in ignorant bliss of my exact weight. He hasn't quit smoking yet, but he has cut WAY down and I'm sure soon he will stop altogether.
I realized today when talking to Mike that my new puppy Clover has not been properly introduced to everyone. So, making her internet debut is my poodle, CLOVER. I never fancied myself a poodle person before, but I really love the 'no shedding' and she's a pretty clever girl with a sweet personality.
I'm going to try to add pictures, we'll see how that goes. Just in case I can't do it, one is of Clover so you can see how cute she is and one is of Chloe jumping on the trampoline. It's a little fuzzy, but if you don't see any teeth in her mouth, you don't have to adjust your monitor, it's cause they're not there. Oh yeah, we got a trampoline. The kids have been having a lot of fun on it. Chloe has fun just jumping with her friends, Savannah & Sloane. Tate can do front flips and back flips and Mason learned one trick that's kinda hard to describe. Oh, and Emo, Mangnay, Shelly, Sloane & Ryder came over on Sunday and I discovered that Mangnay doesn't know how to jump. Really, she can't jump right but she spent a long time trying. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard. I think that she just didn't want to go up because she's scared of heights, but then that sort of defeats the purpose of jumping on a trampoline.
So you might be wondering why we got a trampoline and if not I'm gonna tell you anyway. At the beginning of the summer we bought a swimming pool for the kids. I thought it would be great because they all love to swim and it gets pretty hot here in the summer. Yeah, pretty hot, just not hot enough to warm up the water in the pool. Not such a good idea after all. It was almost mean, because as I stated before the kids really love to swim, and there was a pool, right in our own backyard, full of sparkling water........that was way too cold to swim in. They would torture themselves for 5-10 minutes at a time, basically get in, shiver and shake until they couldn't take it anymore and then get out. Well during the same time that we got the pool, we also sodded the yard. We sodded around the pool. So, when the pool was removed there was a large circle of no grass. So, now we have a trampoline!

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!! (So far)
I haven't smoked a single cigarette today! The idea is to stop smoking, start eating healthier and exercising. Steve and I are going to do it together. We are on a mission to become better people, or at least better looking people.
So, the plan has begun. No smoking. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. It'll save money and hopefully make the exercise part of this program a little easier. I started first and Steve will be starting (or stopping) in the next couple of days. He's taking Chantix and I think he has 2 more days before he stops. That will really be something!
If you have ever been to my house, you know that we have plenty of exercise equipment. There is a treadmill, stationary bike, weight bench with two trees full of weights and a stomach/back machine thing. When I decided to try to lose weight and exercise we started collecting all this equipment. There was even more before. We got rid of a buns & thigh rocker, some ab doer, a nordic track and a stair climber. The funny thing was that I had all that stuff and didn't lose a single pound! So now we've thinned it out to what I feel are the 'essentials' and I believe that once I start using them I should start seeing some results.
Actually, Steve has been doing exercises every day now for about 3 weeks. He has really been committed to it and I am very impressed. I'm going to start slow on the treadmill because the bike hurts my butt. I will try to do some every day. It will take some prodding but I think it will eventually become a habit. That's kinda why I'm writing all this down. If I've written it down and people have read it, I don't know, it just seems like I will be less likely to allow myself to fail since it's so public.
We haven't started the eating healthy part yet, though. And by eating healthy, I don't mean icky vegetables all the time. That would certainly be doomed from the start. We are just gonna try to consume less calories each day and eat less fat stuff. I think my body would go into shock and I may suffer irreperable medical something or others if I went all healthy all the time. Baby steps, right? But, again, we haven't started it yet..........so, FRIED SHRIMP tonight!!!!!

I Just Created A Blog . . .
I'm not sure why or of what use it will be, but I have one. I'm sorry if it looks plain and that there are no pictures posted, but you must realize that I am just getting started and, as with most things computer, I don't really know what I'm doing. So if you've ever considered it and thought it might be too difficult you can rest assured that it's not since I figured it out. I've known about the existence of blogs for some time now but never chose to make one of my own until about 10 minutes ago. Again, not sure of what the content will be, but I'm sure I will write stuff and add pics soon. Any suggestions are welcome.
